Viña Zorzal, Sea of Dreams 2019

Viña Zorzal is a highly respected producer in Navarra (North-Central Spain) with a particular focus on Garnacha. The grapes for this wine are from a north facing vineyard in Corral de Los Altos planted in 1978. As Xabi, the winemaker explains: ‘We get the grapes from rocky soil, on the top of a high plateau where the northerly “Cierzo” wind plays a key role adding an edge to the wine.’

After picking the grapes are fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks. Ageing is in old 500 litre French oak barrel. Bottled without fining or filtration.

Wine Profile: On the nose you’ll find clove, black fruit, followed by soft cherry and ripe fruit aromas. The palate is very soft, full-bodied and rounded, with a long, balanced and pleasant finish. Pairs well with cured ham, stew and meat dishes ranging from roasted poultry to fatty pork.
