Recaredo
The Recaredo Rosat Cava was the first Cava to receive the Demeter (certifying body for biodynamics) seal of approval. Recaredo started practising biodynamic agriculture in 2006. Four years later, Recaredo’s family certified 50 hectares of vineyards located in the county of the Alt Penedès. Biodynamic agriculture goes a step beyond organic. It means working the vineyards in a way that respects the land, without using herbicides, pesticides or fungicides. In the vineyards they plant cover crops to encourage biodiversity, balance and soil health, and use medicinal plants like nettle and horsetail to treat disease.
